The most famous Redheads of the world, protagonists of the greatest number of successes in Formula 1 race history, are also the landlords in two beautiful museums devoted to their creator, Enzo Ferrari, a great italian man, and to their own myth.
The first Museum is in Modena (Emilia Romagna region), in Paolo Ferrari Street 85, just over the Ducal Gardens and the Botanical ones. The second, instead, is in Maranello, headquarter of the Ferrari production, where on March 12th 1947, the roar of the fist 125 Model broke the deep silence of the Padana countyside for the first time.
The Museum Enzo Ferrari – MEF distinguishes itself in the Modena skyline because of its unmistakable form of a yellow car’s bonnet. It tells the personal history of its founder, also known as The Drake (his nickname), and it shows some of the most beautiful and winning cars of the team.
The Museum is made of two different parts: a red-bricked building where Enzo Ferrari was born on February 18th 1898; his father Alfredo used to have a machine shop in this stable. And a second modern one, made of metal and glass, planned by Jan Kaplicky, which represents a race car with the famous symbol of the rampant small horse .
Inside, two involving tapes tell the history of Enzo Ferrari, his relationships with pilots and the whole team, and the characters of that time. The Museum also includes a special collection called Red Carpet formed by the car’s models used in some famous movies.
The Museum Ferrari in Maranello has a lot of visitors; its large rooms show the most famous, expensive and prestigious Redheads models. Here it is possible to sit down on one of these cars and get a memory picture or try a Formula 1 simulator driving on the most important race circuits of the world: Monza, Silverstone, Barcellona… The simulator has an extraordinary sensibility and it faithfully transmits the effect of the high speed on such a sophisticated car.
Finally, it’s possible have a pleasant panoramic tour inside Fiorano raceway and along Enzo Ferrari’s Boulevard in a comfortable red bus. During the trip, a tourist guide tells in English all the news about the same raceway, the whole Ferrari Factory and its legendary cars.
